The Search
I've been on the search for a good Koigu colorway for some time now. The problem is that it needs to work with an existing 2 skeins and it needs to be green.
The original colorway is a minty green, purchased solely to finish a pair of socks which ran out of yarn 5 rows before completion. I have 2 skeins of it, 2 skeins without a project; they really want a home.
Sunday I thought I found it's long lost coordinate, a dark green with bits of yellow.

Thrilled at the prospect of the search being over, I immediately cast on for the intended project, the chevron scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts.

However, it is wrong.
Its too contrasty. Its too stripey. After hours of trying to convince myself that the combination of these two colors is in fact quite Banana Republic, I must end this delusion. It doesn't really work. It calls too much attention to itself for my taste.
So... the search is back on!

I love the contrasting greens, maybe not for a scarf, but how about for some (dare I say it) socks?

I'm going to assume that you can't find more of the original color. Is that right or are you just looking for something to go with it to break it up? As you know, my resources are limited to the internet, but what about finding a solid in a similar color - it looks like there may be a couple that are similar? It also looks to me like Purl might have some KPPM colors that would work with the one you have. Good luck.

I like the colors together, but if you think it's too stripey, than rip. That's a lot of scarf on some tiny needles to knit something you won't be happy with.

Actually the colours look lovely together, but the important thing is whether you like it. Hope you find the right match that will give you some happy knitting time.

That is the same color koigu I used in my scarf! I think it looks lovely by itself... Maybe try a scarf pattern with less of a pattern?? What are the other green yarns you are knitting it with?

I'm going to have to side with the "people who think it looks pretty" camp here! Pretty, pretty, pretty!

Like others, I think it's looks fantastic. But, if you're not happy, you likely never will be. So rip baby rip!
You're a great knitter. I really like your FO's!

Maybe wait a couple of days to rip, see if the combo works on you. If not, try a solid color Koigu. Any other variegated colorway is bound to produce a contrasty effect, no matter what you do.

Oh, I have been loving me some green lately, *and* some stripes, so I adore the striped green scarf. And yet, if you do not, you must rip. Let us all know how it turns out!

I love it. Monochrome stripes are very sophisticated IMHO.

Love the colors; love the scarf. The contrast isn't jarring - at least not in the photos you've posted.
